Dear Family,
In 1982, cousin Dorothy Roane Simpson (daughter of Princetta Coles Roane, granddaughter of Colonel Wilson Coles, great granddaughter of Mary Jane Coles) introduced the idea of having a family reunion to reunite the branches back to its root to bring us together on an ongoing basis. She had the foresight to start what we now know as Coles, Lemons, Meekins, Williams, Winfree, Woodson Family Reunions. Our organization used this combination of names because of Coles’ marriages into and with the other five surnames.
Throughout the last forty plus years, we have held numerous family reunions, BBQs, fundraisers, and more. All of them resulted in the fact that we now have a family mailing list of over 750 family members. This allows us to maintain an almost instant contact with family members worldwide. I say instantly because we have over 500 family member email addresses. If you are aware of family members who are not on our mailing list, please forward their names and email addresses to us at clmwwwnec@gmail.com
One of our greatest accomplishments is the formation of our Emma Woodson Hill Memorial Scholarship Award. To date, with your much needed financial support, thirty-two of our high school family members have received this award. Your support has given them a much-needed boost to start their post-high school educational career be it trade school or college. Your belief in them has assisted them in earning numerous degrees up to Doctor of Philosophy. We have one young cousin who graduated from Georgetown University in 3.5 years and is now enrolled in medical school.
Your support is also crucial in the form of what we call “Seed” $. It is needed to assist the next family reunion family reunion planning committee AND to financially support our National Executive Committee to achieve our mission.

To those of you who have assisted us in the past, thank you. We could not have gotten this far without you. Thank you in advance for your contributions. Your donations will go toward our ongoing efforts.
