Toni Eubanks Meekins, author

“Journey Home: Passage to Womanhood”

Journey Home is the story of Tamara Woodson, who lives in the American West in the 1880s. She is smart and sassy, and has a mind of her own. Like many black families of that era following slavery, her family traveled west and founded their own town.

Tamara Woodson is at a turning point in her life. She begins a journey of self-discovery that reveals important connections to her ancestral past. Prompted by her ambitions and experiences, she prepares herself for an uncertain future.

At one point, Tamara’s fears are expressed in a dream that intertwines a Nigerian Yoruba folktale. She learns to interpret important symbols. At another, Tamara learns about the Apache Indian culture from a girl who is preparing for her own elaborate coming of age ceremony. Exposure to these two cultures helps Tamara validate the values and traditions of others as well as her own. As she matures, Tamara learns to let go of her own fears and to rely on her inner strength.

Journey Home is book one in the juvenile historical fiction series, “Passage to Womanhood.”

“Three Sides of Every Crisis”: Strategies to Sustain Business

As a Global Pandemic Grips the World, organizations are in search of solutions to stabilize business as the workforce seeks employment answers as jobs continue to disappear. Three Sides of Every Crisis: Strategies to Sustain Business, Manage Your Career, and Take Care of You offers a strategic approach in the headwinds of global disruption that helps readers understand how to maneuver through rough days and take control of an unforeseen future. There are opportunities for businesses that are willing to see through the fog to skillfully manage their perception of the crisis - determining a company's existence or demise. Because in the pitched battle between perception and reality, perception always wins. The book provides employees navigating the unforeseen future solutions to build a career instead of just working a job. This book cuts through the complexities of managing businesses and presents a holistic approach that allows for the re-evaluation of established organizational practices. The current economic environment is disruptive and ambiguous. Companies everywhere are reporting dismal sales forecasts, employees are being let go, and the way enterprises operate is changing. Still, there is a class of businesses that are adopting strategies that revolve around embracing change to become more flexible and strategic. These enterprises are doing well, which is proof that if you plan right and execute efficiently, you can survive; in fact, you can thrive. The fact is that hidden in every crisis is an opportunity. When you discover it, you can capitalize on it to turn things around to forge a new trajectory for your business. Tenacious entrepreneurs and resonant professionals are actively looking for ways to navigate these murky unchartered waters. This book was written as an indispensable guide to enable leaders to steer their companies in the right direction, to focus on the professional development of corporate staff, and enhance their well-being. When faced with extreme situations such as the current pandemic, it calls for extreme measures to be implemented within an organization using out-of-box thinking. It is only through soul-searching and re-evaluating can an organization find a new voice and find new opportunities to grow and prosper. This book offers a unique and innovative way of thinking about the possibilities in which organizations can adapt to reach a higher plateau in the next "new normal."

Anée Atelier

https://www.aneeatelier.com/experience

Wedding Photographers based in New York

Two best friends who believe in the power of soulful images & the passionate documentation of milestones great & small.

We are the women of Anée Atelier—native New Yorkers and natural-born storytellers, with two creative minds and adventurers’ hearts. We are more than just cameras—we are catalysts. The ones most likely to say something along the lines of, “we should find some camels for this,” then circle back an hour later, furry friends in tow. We gravitate towards authenticity and relish in opportunities to abandon our comfort zones. We believe the best cocktails are the ones upstaged by incredible company, and that the best experiences are sewn in roots of atmospheric aesthetics, culture and quirks. We are the yin to each other’s yang—a power couple of creative duos. And certain that, of the thousands of photographers in New York City, there are absolutely none like us.

Sheena Meekins, Owner & Principal Photographer

Sheena Meekins is a seasoned creative who co-founded Anée Atelier following an esteemed eight-year career in publishing.

During her time at Condé Nast and Time Inc., Sheena worked for titles including Teen Vogue, Vogue, People, StyleWatch and Essence Magazine. The two-time Marketer of the Year specialized in content creation for brand partners across the fashion and retail industries.

A desire for creative pursuits outside the world of magazines led her to follow her passion for photography full-time. Her dynamic background and spirited vision can be seen throughout her work—an elevated aesthetic informed by the Vogue standard, an eye for culture developed in New York City and a playful curiosity all her own.

On any given day, you can find Sheena lost in her latest music obsession, plotting her next international adventure or coming up with a clever list of alternative nicknames, because yes, “Sheena and Gina" definitely rhyme.

Gina Esposito, Owner & Principal Photographer

For over 18 years, Gina Esposito has honed her craft of photography, capturing over 1,000 weddings and events worldwide.

With a degree in photographic imaging and a passion for capturing truth, Gina’s technical prowess allows her to flow seamlessly, documenting life and creating art in both film and digital mediums. Often relying on her innate ability to read a room, Gina credits her most powerful captures to an inherent sense of intuition that allows her to see past the present, in anticipation of
key moments to follow. Those moments are where Gina’s passion becomes purpose, and purpose—the preeminent photography
that has become synonymous with her name.

After nine years of leading her own photography studio, a creative partnership felt natural. In the pursuit of offering the most elevated level of service to a discerning clientele, Gina co-founded
Anée Atelier in 2016, alongside best friend, Sheena Meekins. Together, the pair lead the New York City-based boutique photography studio with a foundation of creative play and utmost excellence, not only at the core of the company but within the souls of the two women at its helm.

In her free time, Gina can be found exploring remote locations via 4x4, drone or any place the inexplicably poor navigation skills of best friend/frequent co-pilot, Sheena Meekins may take them (details below).

Evolve to Vitality Beyond.png

Evolve to Vitality, written by Tonja McNair, is a book filled with compelling, inspirational, and meditative bodies of writings, offering the reader an opportunity to enter their own room with an examination mirror. These introspective writings showcase inner conflicting thoughts that are supported by The Higher Power. The writings are intriguing and have a way of encouraging the reader without force. The invitation is given to sink into a deeper mindset to reevaluate their own journey. The enjoyment of a healthy mind will supersede any notion of material well-being. This is the root of personal empowerment, leading to a happy journey in life. This book is a biographical testament that emphasizes the immense inner prowess of the soul, which is constantly striving for a better understanding and clarity of the infinite possibilities of a spiritual mind with a concoction of reality. This book bridges the gap between the crosswalk of ego responses and compulsions. We can exercise our right to respond over being reactive, illuminating one painfully missing element that humanity shares. No matter where we come from or what challenges we face, our lives are intertwined. We share profound connections with individuals, we all want happiness! Let’s begin together!
This nimble and thoughtful book encourages readers to “get to an evolution of your spirit, mind, and soul” via honest introspection and examination. In short, easy to digest chapters, the author explains the who, how, why, where, and what of doing just that, often undergirded by examples from her own life. Using “approachable stories” supported by “script tips,” the author uses metaphors and analogies to convey her thoughts. She encourages readers to read slowly and
thoughtfully, taking their time to mull over and ponder the writing with an eye toward looking at the “examination mirror with introspection and illumination in full view.” For example, when a major move from New York to Florida threatens to throw her for a loop, the author chronicles how her Christian faith was her rock. This includes daily nature walks – “just God, nature, and me” - and Qigong, which coordinates body-posture and movement, reaching out and building community, deep breathing and growing her spirit, mind and body. At just over one hundred and twenty pages, this “bite sized book” is an agile read. It’s also a cogent one. Evocative prose encourages readers to “take a long sober stare within, be kind to yourself, while allowing truth to illuminate what mindset repair, renewal, and restoration is needed.” Real life examples and practical applications are included. It would be difficult to select just a few stand-out chapters from this solid body of work. But exceptionally strong chapters include Heroes and Sheroes, In Short Supply, Light a Match, Wear Morality, My Problem, and Some Things Are Cultural. Also, It Is Written, Help the Poor (it’s not what you may think) and "aloe" in Being Used, all gently urge readers to confront and deal with oneself in a loving and compassionate way while asking some pretty pointed questions. It’s not for the faint-hearted. But for those willing to put in the time, attention, and effort, this book could very well be life-changing. Indeed, Evolve to Vitality is one of the year’s best. It’s a terrific read. Beautifully written and bathed in joy, it’s also saturated in hope and drenched with grace and truth. The style is highly readable and engaging as well as thought-provoking. It’s a learning experience as well as a wake-up call, yea verily. Anyone who’s vertical and breathing will enjoy this lively and engrossing read. Insightful, uplifting and penetrating, it’s the kind of book you can read in an afternoon. But why do that? Because this book isn’t a sprint. It’s a warm and thoughtful journey of discovery that’s meant to be read as a contemplative stroll. It’s something to be savored slowly, a book to return to again and again. Now would be a good time to start!
