Mother's Day Bus Trip to NY
May 13, 2013
The Philadelphia/South Jersey Chapter sponsored a bus trip on Saturday, May 11, to the Dempsey Theater in Harlem , NYC, to see the musical Mama, I Want To Sing! The play is the story of Doris Troy who wrote and recorded the 1963 hit, Just One Look. She and her sister, Vy Higginsen, who narrated the story, co-wrote the play. Doris was played by her niece, Amayah Knoelle Higgensen, who is not only a talented actress but a gifted singer with a multi-octave voice range. The play is performed by the Gospel For Teens group trained by the Mama Foundation For the Arts in Harlem. The trip was a wonderful experience and all who attended had a great time.
